At the Market, September 14th

Well, it may be September but the autumnal equinox this year is Monday, September 23. So actually this is the next to the last Farmer Market of the summer. To remedy that “Fall Feeling” everyone has, all the Market farmers, vendors and staff this Saturday will be in bathing suits and slathered with SPF 95 sunscreen lotion. The Friends of Pretzel Park graciously trucked in 300 tons of sand to cover the Park, planted 75 Palm trees and renamed Pretzel Park to Pretzel Beach. So bring your Pretzel Park Farmers Market Shopping Bags and your beach balls. We are also looking for volunteers to sweep up the sand on Sunday.

This week we gots farmers, drums, mushrooms, bread, Shea-based Hair & Body Oils, hand crafted, small batch (4oz), Soy candles, cat and dog services, and an end of summer grand finale of farmers banging drums with chicken legs and baguettes! Seriously. Really! Farmers banging drums with chicken legs and baguettes. Come, you’ll see!

We’ve always felt that our market’s location — in Pretzel Park which includes a playground and dog run — has contributed to making the market kid-friendly, pet-friendly, and family-friendly.

Alright, this week we got Farmers, Farmers bearing gifts, (you know what they say about gifts from Farmers? You may not like it at first but it’ll grow on you!), jams, jellies, marmalades, mushrooms, bread, wine, crochet items, embroidery, shea based hair and body oils, (Aww, c’mon, that joke wasn’t that bad was it? Boy, tough room! Is this thing on?) hand crafted soy candles, beaded bangles and earrings, and beautiful woodwork.

That’s right, there’s nothing genetically modified at the PP FM! Everything at Pretzel Park is au naturel! In fact it’s only a recent court order that forced our Park volunteers to start wearing clothing at the Market! (Well, that and a vicious horsefly swarm from the Fairmount section one Saturday. But I digress.) This week we got farmers, including fresh beef for you non-vegans, bread, cookies, bouquets, embroidery, art, handcrafted soy candles, and all natural soap. See, told ya we were natural!
